Vessel Protection Checklist
- Hauling & Sea Trials: If applicable, arrange with the marina to haul the vessel for a bottom inspection and retain a captain for sea trials. Uncharted Marine Survey can assist in arranging a captain if needed.
- Clearing Gear: Lockers and cabin areas should be cleared of all miscellaneous gear.
- Access to Compartments: All locked compartments should be unlocked, or provide the key/combination location.
- Fuel & Safety Gear: For sea trials, ensure the vessel has fuel, life jackets, and all USCG-required safety gear.
- Cleanliness: The boat should be clean and free of excessive personal items, dirt, and debris, especially on hull sides and decks.
- Batteries: Make sure batteries are fully charged, and if possible, connect the boat to shore power.
- Bilge: Bilges should be clean and free of water or debris.
- Recent Upgrades: Provide details on any recent upgrades or replacements.
- Interior Access: The surveyor may request minor dismantling of interior ceilings, headliners, or flooring to inspect suspected areas.
- Dismantling & Re-installation: Any dismantling and re-installation should be performed by qualified personnel or the vessel owner and is the responsibility of the person ordering the survey.
- Authorization: Authorization from the owner will be needed to board and/or remove parts of the vessel. This form will be provided by Uncharted Marine Survey once the survey is set up.
